  • As always the first to do is to remove snow -  shovels, chain saws, ice axes, sledge hammers,snow blowers and the Pisten Bully were used by a big work force to remove the snow <br />
around the Dome.
  • Mounting the first of the 15 panels in the ring around the Dome. Each panel weigh over 200 kg.
  • Wires are mounted on a blue ring circling the Dome in preparation to put the dome on skies.
  • A look through the passage under the Dome where 2 of the 4 skies will be mounted under the frame.
  • The Dome will be equipped with 4 skies. Each of them weigh 1250 kg.
  • One of the four huge sledges that are mounted under the Dome.
  • The ramp for the Dome move is 50 m long and with a slope of 6 deg.
  • After moving the Dome it was lifted 4.5 m to the new snow surface, securing it for the next three years.
  • The Dome was pulled the 50 m up the ramp with a slope of 6 deg by the Pisten Bully and the Flexmobile. The move took one minute!

  • Dome on skies!
  • The ramp and hole from the previous Dome position has been filled and the Dome is moved back to its original position just 4.5 m higher.
  • The Dome sledge mounting team celebrating that the Dome is on skies.
  • After having mounted a sled system under the 35 t heavy Dome all camp can be moved to a new drill site on the Greenlandic Icesheet.
